In October 2021 the state Senate approved a map with new boundaries for all 160 House district to increase opportunities for minority candidates to win election to the Legislature by creating four new incumbent-free districts centered in Chelsea, Brockton, Lawrence and Framingham and increasing the number of districts with a majority minority population by 13 beginning with the 2022 elections. The new majority minority 6th Middlesex District it is a completely Framingham- based seat and covers Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13 , 14, 15, 16 and a portion of precinct 9.
