As your state representative, I will build on my work as a community advocate, small business owner, and two-term city councilor to further champion our shared values:
Margareth Shepard made history in 2017 as the first Brazilian-American immigrant woman to be elected city councilor in the United States, serving for two terms.
In her role she successfully advocated for Downtown and south Framingham, partnered with our legislative delegation to increase public education funding, and set an example that has increased community political participation in all levels of government. She is a trusted public servant and a community leader in Framingham and beyond.
Margareth learned to speak English at the Fuller School Adult ESL Program while raising a family and becoming a community volunteer and successful small business owner in Framingham.
“I have been fortunate to have steadfast legislative partners over my six years representing Framingham and Ashland. Our
collaboration with one another has allowed us to successfully advocate for our region and our shared values on Beacon Hill. With an open seat for the newly formed southside Framingham district, I know that we need a proven advocate and partner, and that person is Margareth Shepard. I look forward to our ongoing work together.”
- Rep. Jack Patrick Lewis
Margareth has deep ties to our community and has the life experience to represent Framingham and advocate for us on Beacon Hill.
